I was at Pukkelpop where 5 Died so what the **** do we moan about?

What Started as A Great Stag Trip Was Turned Into a

Nightmare In 22 Hurricane Minutes.

my name is Jay Roberts As you may know last Wednesday I went 

off to from the UK to  Belgium for one of my oldest friends stag doo's. We were heading to a festival called pukkelpop. Its about 90 minutes away from Brussels. So we are full of fun as we head off on our Eurostar adventure. Nine guys looking forward to 5 days of boys time and of course, the odd beer! (aherm!).

The train journey was good fun as it would be with 9 lads together. Although we are all fast approaching 40 so it seems quieter than years gone by. :-) We arrive in the festival venue on the Wednesday 17th August in the afternoon. we wait to get our bands on our wrists then its off to pitch our tents ready for 4 days. It took a while as we are really bad campers!!

Now half way through the 1st day of the festival the sun turned to black sky really really quickly. We were watching Skunk Anansieand what followed was crazy, surreal and scary.

We ran to the nearest tent, lost one of our group (which I am sure you can imagine was a huge worry) but we got to one of the big tents. This lasted for around 25 minutes. We could hear the horror unfold as screams of people trying to get shelter just as we were.

There was flying debris from various structures and then 1" thick hail stones started to fall. People were being blown by HUGE gusts and now giant hail hitting them. Some didn't make cover so huddled together outside supporting each other and right at that moment I not only got to witness a terrible tragedy unfolding but also an incredible human spirit as everyone tried to help each other.

We were fortunate as we found a tent that held strong but others were not so lucky.

This is where our friend had been standing but moved 10 minutes before it collapsed. as the mini hurricane passed we were left with a flooded festival around 1 metre of water and what become evident was that it had not only claimed injuries but actually claimed lives.

Our 1st thought was our friend and how hard the camp site was hit. So we gathered that it would be best to wade through the flood and head to camp and try and find our mate. We found him thank god but we also found

It had claimed a life. Someone in their tent had a tree fall on them.  the last count was around 70 in hospital and 5 dead with more fighting for their life still.

The Pukkelpop  festival was obviously cancelled.

And as all around me sunk in I remember being overcome by emotion.

Why did I ever waste time!?

Why did I worry about shit!?

Why did I not always appreciate what I already have fully!?

Why did I not spend more time doing puzzles with my 4 year old son!?

Or Play more Dora with my 2 yr old daughter?!

Why did I ever worry about what people though of me that stopped me from living my life as I choose!!??

At that moment I appreciated my family. I appreciated my friends. I appreciated my life! More than I ever have.

We helped some folks get sorted after that event, got ourselves together and had to pack up but rather than end the stag trip we decided to head to Brussels and to get a youth hostel for us all and make the best of it all. Life, after all, goes on.

What's The Point Of Email Marketing In My Home Business?

One email, 36 hours, my own average product = $8,000 pure profit. That got my attention.

Quite simply put Email Marketing is the essential part of your home business's online marketing campaigns.

Why?

Because this is what you use to build those 'do or die' relationships with your leads. And in the noisy markets relationships is key to your success. Of course face to face would win hands down to build rapport with your prospects but you cannot get face to face with everyone so we need to use leverage.

Imagine sending one email and it building a relationship with hundreds or thousands of people at the same time. Email marketing Works! And to ignore it is a little crazy in my view.

I know the top guns and their students all have lists but still I speak to so many who do not yet see its power. Even when i was a newbie and created average products I made $8,000 in 36 hours from an email list of just 500 people, isn't that powerful.

I was in shock when that happened but it cemented it into my soul. This thing will change my business forever. And it did. So I then set about knowing, testing and tracking everything. I wanted to see how the Brits responded to emails and how different that was for worldwide emails. I will share those results later.

So here's some tips to help with you email marketing efforts:-

Subject: Get Noticed & Get That Message Opened.

Try different subject headlines. You will be amazed at what gets opened the most. But test any idea you have for something that will AROUSE INTRIGUE (hint)

Email Body:

1/ Deliver on the headline. Whatever your headline was continue / answer it in the copy.

(if you fail to have this continuity you will lose subscribers as they hate to be conned into opening your emails)

2/ Get link clicked - always try and send them to a sales page / content video (covertly selling on the back)

This will get your list more engaged and it's a truer reflection on a successful email. People open and don't read so this shows you they read something.

3/ Bond with your list.

Open each email with a bit about what you have on today or your night of no sleep with your kids  or simple "the wife is shoppin today so I have a peaceful house to work in. The more they 'feel' you as an every day person with a normal life the less resistance to your offers. (I have subscribers email ME to ask if they should buy something I am selling - how cool is that?)

**NOTE. NEVER tell your list a lie to make a sale. If a product is not right for them TELL THEM SO)

4/ Keep them knowing you will email tomorrow. Daily emails without fail work like gang-busters for building rapport and selling. I see this a lot that folks think "Oh I won't email often in case anyone gets upset. SO? I get 2 emails a day from Daegan (Smith) I get daily from Perry Marshall and I never get upset. WHY? Because they give value and I want that value.

5/ Share other people questions and struggles and your solutions. This will show you care and also position you as an authority to your followers.

6/ Never fear the un-subscribes. Ignore all hate mail. It's not you they are angry at. I promise.

Un-subscribes are saying "I am angry at myself and/or I don't want to buy anything. So what's wrong with that? Cool to me.

And

7/ Know your purpose in every email - Always have a core purpose to each email. This is what you frame your headline around and your copy. Know what you want them to do or buy or watch. It will keep your messages strong.

8/ P.S. make your p.s have a clear benefit and call to action link. It should back up your email copy but in one sentence if possible. Many folks go to the p.s. first so have it sharp.

Follow This Simple Email Structure

1. Say about your day today - what's on your real life agenda
2. Give value - mindset, skills, techniques, strategies that will help them
3. call to action - I would try 2-3 url links. one near the top - one in the middle - one in the p.s.

Simples! About you, give value, call to action.

There's obviously a lot more but the above should help anyone new to get some traction, overcome that fear and start seeing some return on their email marketing investment.

Call That A Gun?

Ok so I slightly altered the line from Crocodile Dundee but in internet land we have that right.

In an uber competitive world where psychology plays a bigger part than possibly ever before I am drawn to the conclusion that you

need a bigger gun to really make it happen for you.

Now I don't mean go get an AK47 or anything crazy (although that would be kinda cool) before ya'll start shouting at this UK fella.

Let's focus on our marketing. Sure there are lots of ways to do this like bloggin, articles, PPC, PPV or video marketing. Now we all know that this is a crowded house too.

To break through now takes courage, patience, persistence and tenacity. So if everyone is adding content and doing this marketing thing then you gotta stand above the crowd. 

They all have a gun so yours needs to be bigger

. (see how I brilliantly worked that silly headline into this post - genius!).

So how can you have a bigger gun?

In the end I think it comes down to massive activity. Its really about committing to your core objective (more on this later) and just blasting your QUALITY content out there. Leverage technology and distribution to epic proportions so you start to get seen everywhere time after time after time.

Traffic builds as a consequence and you work your little ass off on increasing conversions. Still working like a mad dog whose on steroids you set to emailing daily so build that all important relationship.  As it's relationships that will win the day in 2011 and beyond and in this noisy space called network marketing and internet marketing.

Then with eyes of red you craft your selling abilities to jedi status to close those sales and attract those recruits.  You might wanna use the telephone or prefer webinars or meeting in person. Whatever way you want to you gotta do it on a massive scale. It's no good doing 1 article a week, a bit of PPC and then calling your one and only lead every Saturday and expecting big things to happen.

Your big 4 are Traffic, Conversions, Relationships, Sales.

And to stand out you need to be doing more than virtually everyone else out there. Have the Bigger Gun. (yes I know I worked the gun thing in again - I am like the Picasso of article's).

So what's it gonna be? I flew to Arizona to take something into my soul so I knew my core objective was running through my veins. The rest is all about having a bigger gun than most.

Take MASSIVE action and watch the results fly. I have done it in one market already now time for the worldwide market too.

"Don't Tell Me What You Are Going To Do............"

I recently went flew from the UK to Arizona USA to find out everything I needed to know about a certain high ticket business opportunity.  And I have to say that it gave me all I needed and more. I met some great people like Michelle Rene Pescosolido, Eric Wilkesm Jeremiah Roberts (no relation so my dad tells me), Debbie Turner and more. Also the main man Mark Hoverson.

And it was something that Mark Hoverson said on this seminar that seemed so bloody obvious but seemed to really hit home when I heard it. In fact it has become somewhat of a mantra in my team.

Mark said "Don't tell me what you are going to do, tell me what you have done"

Now that doesn't seem to be that powerful but think about it for a second. If you are sitting there feeling that your sponsor is not really giving you the attention you want or the help you think you should get then stop and read that again.

Think of all the times you call your sponsor and you are excited and tell them all the things you are going to do. COOL. But if you do that many times but never actually do the work then it's little more than talking a great game.

So how about NOT telling your sponsor what you are going to do but just doing it then arranging a call to say

"Look What I Have Done, can You Review It With Me"

Not only do you get your sponsors attention more as you are now a do-er not a talker but you also start to feel a sense of achievement. It changes your internal chemistry.

So from this day forth I wish your mantra to be as ours is....

Do tell us what you are going to do - tell us what you have done.

Home Business Ethics - Genuine marketers don't scam!

Its so important to keep your ethics in the right place when doing a home business. Recent event's in my life have alerted me to the fact that not only are their internet and MLM scammers out there but that there are also a brigade of angry people LOOKING to bring anyone down and call them a scammer without any real proof.

 

Sure I get that some people have been truly hurt by bad internet people and that sometimes people are so scarred by life's events that they jump to the wrong conclusion too quickly and accuse of someone being a scam. In truth it's not their fault it's the way life has treated them that creates this frenzied fear.

 

But this post today is really about the accusations without fact that I think are equally damaging to us genuine folk who do not hide behind fake emails or hidden blogs. It always amazes me how someone can attack others but hiding behind fake ID's.

 

How can anyone believe the hidden attacker?

 

But the truth is some mud sticks and I think this is unfair. I was recently engaged in making a comment in defence of Daegan Smith whom I have worked with and have enjoyed his value. And on this particular site EVERYONE who as 'sticking the boot in' was anonymous??!!

 

Come on Guys!!!!!!!

 

This is crazy. False names, nicknames and angry comments made up this successful group.(I joke of course about the successful bit).

 

I put my real name, made my comments, had a link to my site and then when challenged by an angry 'hidden' commenter I put my home address, home phone number and all details for anyone to call me if they were upset by anything.

 

No hiding! No fake name!

 

I have another case going on now but that's a long story for another day.

 

But here's the point. Yes there are scammers and yes they are bad. BUT some of us are good folks doing a good business. We are open and can be reached and do not hide and will, if proven to be making an error somewhere - correct it as needed.

 

We are human not Bots.

 

I chose to work with Daegan Smith, Ed Dale, Jen Sheahan and soon to be James Schramko, James Dyson & Kenny Goodman to name but a few because they have good ethics and integrity which I value greatly.

 

You cannot blame a 'guru' for your own lack of abilities or your own lack of hard work and persistence. Take your time to investigate people and then commit to working hard and being persistent.

 

I wonder how many people will end up slagging off genuine marketers when they have taken responsibility for their own success.

To all the boys I can't see anything cheaper at the moment than this, the price is per couple, £311.00 for the flights, flying out on Wed 21st 07.25am from Gatwick on Bash's flight, return flight get back just after midnight on Sunday 25th, book direct with the Kefalos Resort where Bash & Tanya are staying £350.00 for 4 nights B&B, Total about £670.00 per couple just gotta get to the hotel from the airport. Tidy xx

The wedding has been booked and will be happening at Kefalos Beach Tourist Village, Paphos, Cyprus on Friday 23rd September 2011 @ 17.30pm........eeeeekkkkkk!

So as an avid network marketer you should be seeking to be an expert in all thing to do with MLM. no doubt! Experts reigns supreme in any market and you will need to be an expert on network marketing and YOUR companies products.

Now with that set you can of course being the online mlm adventure by ADDING the internet to your marketing arsenal.

It will take time and you should really set your mind to a year of education where results will come yes, but you will not be a master for some time.

You will need to be able to generate your own

MLM Leads

Build a relationship with them via emails

Use Facebook for more social proof and interaction

Learn how to use paid marketing but make money while you do it

All of the above takes time to learn and once you have them recruited of course you will have your own system to plug them in to.

If you have been in your MLM for at least 6 months (I dont think anyone should look at the web for their network marketing business until they have had 6 months of learning and activity in their chosen business) then we would love to help you.

What is the most successful home business?

What is the most successful home business? That’s such an interesting question. You see I think it’s not about being the most successful home business opportunity but the most successful method of working it.

Let me explain further. I think you can have a successful home business where the company is doing amazingly well but that does not necessarily mean everyone doing it is.

Yes you want to be in a company with a great track record.

Yes you need to know the product stands up.

Yes you have to know the company is managed well.

But if you don’t know how to market or sell then how successful can you possibly be? I am thinking not very.

It’s not about joining the most successful home business opportunity it’s about learning the marketing or selling skills needed to sell the product, recruit new people if needed and make a profit.

The company is going to share its profits with those that do this job well. And you don’t need the company for that you needed to become a marketing expert or a sales expert in knowledge and activity.

So my experience of what I needed to change to become more successful was from looking for the best internet training and mentors (as I chose to be an expert marketer although with 15 years sales experience I am no slouch there either).

What's The Best Internet Business Opportunity?

What's the Best Internet Business Opportunity is such a great question. With so many business opportunity start ups or affiliate opportunities out there it's so hard to know what to look for or what to choose.

The internet has become very noisy and crowded with everyone being a 'guru' and knowing the 'secret way' you can make money with hardly any work.

HHHhhhhhmmmmmm!

So is it any wonder we all go through the 'learning curves' to eventually start to succeed in this internet thang. It seems that without wasting some money to learn our lessons we just keep making the wrong choices.

I know it took me A LOT of money and heart ache before I woke up to the fact I needed to learn the basics and fundementals and apply some good ole fashioned hard work in the right area's.

And after spending thousands on the next internet 'get rich quick' scheme I eventually found 2 great people who didn't rip my wallet open.

So my answer to the question what's the Best Internet Business Opportunity is.............

I know I know. you think I may be crazy. Well maybe but here's my feeling.

Yes you need a good company and a good product whether physical or ideally an information product.

Yes the company would need a great track record and long history of great trading if this was an internet business opportunity you are looking at.

But here's the thing that makes the difference between a good opportunity and a bad one and it's not the opportunity itself.

It's support. It's training. It's being able to follow a blueprint of someone who has gone before you. And of course that you can trust.

So look for a good opportunity with a long standing company if you are looking for an actual internet business opportunity but make sure you join someone who you can reach easily, who is there to train and support you and whom you have gotten to know over some time on his or her email list.

Then you have a great mentor and that is what makes the Best Internet Business Opportunity.

3 Things To Help Increase Your Internet Business Income

You have or are about to start an internet business so think about these 3 things to help increase your Internet Business Income.

Even though the Internet is able to create wealth faster than any other medium in history most of us mere mortals had to struggle in the beginning. It's not easy to find the right mentors, the right training, keep motivated and not get side tracked with those promises of easy riches that we see splattered over the web every day.

You know the ones. "Make $15,000 while sitting in your arm chair without any previous experience blah blah blah"!!

Personally I think the days of the 'get rich quick' peddlers are soon to be gone but that's another story.

Let's assume you are in your Internet business. What 3 things can you do that can help you increase your Internet Business Income?

Well after 10 years in business 'learning experiences' (failures to you and I) and 5 years around the home business scene these are 3 key things I do that have dramatically helped my internet income.

1 - Mentor - This gets number one on my list and for good reason. The web is full of fake guru's so you have to find good mentors. Notice I said mentors and not just one. Different people for different things. 

The 2 mentors I chose are Ed Dale as he is an internet marketing god and for the fusion into the recruiting side of a home business using the Internet I chose Daegan Smith. 

These 2 guys are amazing and I learn from them both every day. Now sure it has cost money to get to these guys one via payment and one via joining his top tier business opportunity.

But the results are the same. I get advice in the area's I need it from high level successful internet entrepreneurs. This is the main difference between going from 'getting by' to creating s substantial income online.

How do you choose a good mentor? Well you get on his or her email list as you surf around looking. and see what they send out. 

Do they care as much about you using their stuff as they do selling it?

Do they give you great free training and tips to help you and build your trust.

Are they accessible? 

Feel your way and you won't go far wrong when choosing a good mentor. 

2 - Focus - Easy to get distracted with so much noise on the web. Pick a good plan to follow for your internet training and stay with that plan to see it out to successfully setting it all up. I have done it myself when I have allowed another technique to catch my attention and then I never finished setting up the plan I had set out to do.

Pick a strategy to get your started and stick with it without being side tracked. This will catapult your results and you will then totally get this point.

3 - Execute a Simple DAILY PLAN - I know this sounds so simple but it's amazing how few people online actually do this. If you are looking to build some SEO juice and get free traffic then your plan should be 30-60 minutes a day around this highly effective plan.

If you are going to kill it with PPC then have a 45 minutes action plan of utter focus on creating your ads and landing pages (not Google now since they killed us s a bit really).

At the end of a week even from just 45 minutes of focused action every day you will have achieved more than you will realise. So turn email off, Skype off, mobile (cell) off and get stuck in.

Mike Dillards Coffee House Letter - Angered Me! You?

You know the 1st time I wrote about Mike Dillards Coffee House Letter I ended up in the middle of a 'dogfight' on Daegan Smith's blog getting bashed up! It was the 1st time I had put my opinion about something on the internet. For a while I wished I hadn't.

Before we go on the Coffee House Letter is a sales letter written to highlight the plight of a struggling network marketer and concludes by offering a faster paying solution via a top tier business which has higher payouts than a normal MLM business.

On with the story.....

I really struggled with self confidence when I started in the MLM / IM world and I hadn't really agreed with one part of the Coffee House Letter. So I bit the bullet and decided I should write about how I felt about it and wrote on a little UK communial blog about my feeling towards the letter, Mike Dillard and Daegan Smith.

My issue had been to do with the ethics of the letter (another subject for another time) and I shared these thoughts. I was on Daegans list and an active participant in his emails at that time.

I was reading  the comments on his blog post when it had a link off for everyone to go see something and then come back with their opinion of what they see.

And what did they see?

It was my blog post.

Clearly Daegan had been alerted to a blog post with his name in it which also had my thoughts about the coffee house letter. And my thoughts were not that positive on this particular area of the letter that I had highlighted.

So when I saw Daegan was showing everyone MY BLOG POST for people to share their thoughts on about how Mike Dillard had lost my respect with the coffee house letter I was nothing short of petrified!

It was my 1st blog post!!!!! And I lacked confidence!!! And now here I was challenging the biggest name in Internet MLM and now being debated on one of the other HUGE names, Daegan Smith!

It's a good job my order from adultnappies.com (adultdipers.com) had just arrived!

How was this for a baptism of fire? Man on man I was shouting at myself "just keep your opinions to yourself". What was I going to do? How was I going to handle this one?

I decided that I needed to make sure people knew I was not judging Mike or putting him down and this was not a personal attack either. (although some on this long running thread on Daegans blog did take this stance).

I need to answer everything with dignity and keep to the point and be respectful whilst still getting my point over.

And I felt I managed this ok. Then..........Mike himself turns up! I wanted to run, right there. Just run.

So now I have to debate this issue with Mike Dillard himself and of course the potential was for this to get messy. Some folk did start to attack Mike but they soon realised that was not the point of the thread at all. It was a difference of opinion about ethics.

In truth I was so nervous throughout the whole encounter I dreaded opening up my laptop each morning for a week in case someone was attacking me on the thread. It wasn't a comfortable experience at all. But I did stand for what I believed in and I hope handled myself with respect and dignity though out the encounter. It was a HUGE lesson for me in so many ways.

It was a while back now when I 1st read the Coffee House Letter by Mike Dillard back in the summer of 2007. My son was just 6  months old and I was struggling in an MLM wellness business in the UK.

I read the letter and it made a lot of sense as well as angering me in some area's. But here's the thing. It did make some very factual points, yes, it also leveraged peoples frustrations quite brilliantly into taking the actions it was designed to do. A truly brilliant piece of marketing without any question.

It also liberated so many people into a new successful life so how amazing is that? But I imagine it also angered many too. And as per my article on Daegan Smiths 2 Emails a day strategy, you know when you are truly succeeding when as many people love you as don't.

So my little coffee house letter excursion ended up being a big lesson in what you put out there and also the biggest test I had ever faced. So early in my IM career.

Do I regret putting it out there? No.

I learnt so much from that experience its incredible. It took me about 4 notches up in my confidence as I knew I could deal with being criticised without losing my composure. It took me leaps forward in my business and my approach to building a real internet business.

And even though I still have the same opinion as it was then I have so much respect for anyone who achieves great things just as Mike Dillard has. In fact  if our paths ever crossed I would be delighted to say hi and have a beer.

My journey has been amazing and without that early terrifying event wonder if I would be this far along the path today.

Who knows. But I am grateful for that encounter to this very day.

Deagan Smith, 2 Emails a Day & Bob Monkhouse?

Now if you are in the home business arena you will probably have heard of Daegan Smith and his 2 emails a day strategy. Well he is a very successful internet network marketer in the USA. I started to get to know him a while back now and have a real respect for him. But let's get back to subject.

Going back to 2010 Deagan suggested I email my list twice a day.

"Twice" I said? -  "Yes" he replied.

I say "hhhmmmmmmmmmm, Not sure Daegy baby. This could be trouble".

But seeing as he has the minerals (uk expression made famous in the Brit flick "Snatch" - meaning he is not scared to take action), I thought I would give it a whirl.

So I set off to email my little UK list at the time an email in the morning and an email in the afternoon. I had already built up some relationship with them so was a little wary of such a strategy but I did it anyway.

And a funny thing happened.

The more I emailed the more I got abused BUT the more I sold! Crazy!

OK Jay, that's fine but what has Bob Monkhouse got to do with it and who the heck is he?

Hold up sunshine and I will tell ya.

Bob Monkhouse is a famous UK comedian who died some years ago now. He was also the 'game show host' king in the UK for many many years. In the mid 70's he was at the height of his fame on TV and the comedy circuit.

Now he happened to top the 2 polls in the UK at that time.

He was the most popular celebrity in the UK whilst at the same time being the most hated man in Britain??!!

How is this even possible and what has it got to do with 2 emails a day?

Simples!

The 2 emails a day got me more un-subscribes than I had ever had before whilst at the same time getting me more sales than I had ever made before.

To push yourself out there, to be yourself, to email more will force people to make a choice to either love you or hate you.

And when this happens you get a following or a tribe if you will. Bob Monkhouse was everywhere you looked during the 70's and so people were forced to choose - Love or Hate?

This gave Bob an incredible career spanning 50 years before his untimely death due to cancer. So to me as I look at Deagans 2 emails a day suggestion and what actually happened to my business and awareness from carrying out this trial I know for sure that to 'make it' in this world we have to be prepared to do what most would be too scared to do.

Now I can't say I still email twice a day but I do email virtually every day and I share whatever is true for me to share.

And when I see a lot of un-subscribes from an email I sent I know that I just created a lot of love for me too!
